OUR PROGRAMS
Drive Forward is an one of a kind employable skills program helps individuals obtain their driver's license for the purpose of employment. The focus is to support youth (16 - 30 years old) and other community members who aspire to enter industries or find employment that requires a driver’s license. Our program provides access to driver’s training (L and N) by eliminating barriers such as resources and costs. We seek to partner with various employment skills training programs, alternative high schools, and indigenous communities.
Since March 2018, we are proud to share:
1. Partnerships have been formed with community service agencies, school districts and indigenous communities such as Pacific Community Resources Society (PCRS), PLEA, Vancouver School District (Genesis Alternative School), North Vancouver School District (Mountainside Alternative Secondary School), Surrey School District (Learning Centres of Surrey), Hollyburn Family Services (Wired 4 Success Employment Skills Program), ACCESS Futures, Squamish Nation Employment and Training and Tsleil-Waututh Nation to name a few.
2. +400 individuals have successfully obtained their Learner's license.
3. 22 individuals are currently receiving funding and support for driving lessons
4. 9 individuals have obtained their N license.
Our generous sponsors
Camp Without Borders is a free travel program for young adults (18 to 35 years old) with medical illnesses and disabilities. This inclusive program addresses issues of social, emotional and physical isolation. On our trips participants have an opportunity to develop genuine friendships with their peers.
WE BREAK DOWN BARRIERS AND FOSTER SOCIAL CONNECTIONS BY:
-
Providing all of our programs free of charge. We recognize that cost can be a barrier to young adults with medical illnesses and disabilities accessing social programs, therefore we make our programs free for all individuals.
-
Providing a platform for genuine friendships where individuals of all abilities feel safe to connect with their peers through a shared experience. Every travel program is developed and adapted to meet the social, emotional and physical needs of our groups. Participants and volunteers of the same age bracket have the opportunity to bond and leave our trips with new social networks.
-
Providing an age appropriate program that is typical of any young adult. Using travel as our platform for social inclusion allows young adults with medical illnesses and disabilities to engage with their peers and explore the world. Travel is essential part of a young adults life where experiences are gained and memories are created.
